Strength in Pink

Simple Loaf Of Bread was founded in 2012 by Cal-Line’s own Deborah Knoll. In October 2012, after losing a dear friend to breast cancer, Deb wanted to do something to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families, directly. She began baking and selling bread using 100% of the proceeds to purchase fuel cards for patients undergoing cancer treatment. The response from so many people around the world, with monetary donations and several hundred loaves of bread baked, convinced Deb to create a non-profit organization that has touched the lives of 11,200+ cancer patients to date! With continued support, Simple Loaf Of Bread will be able to spread cheer to thousands more.

Simple Loaf Of Bread is dedicated to spreading cheer to cancer patients – one fuel card at a time. Currently cards are given to the staff at California oncology centers for distribution. These cards are meant to be random gifts of cheer: just a little something to brighten up an otherwise “normal” day. Not restricted by income, or defined by need, the only qualification is that the recipient is in treatment.

Simple Loaf Of Bread has always had tremendous community support. The annual banquet and silent auction that is held in Wilton, CA is Simple Loaf of Bread’s major fundraiser. With proceeds of the event topping $50,000 (all of which goes to the purchase and distribution of gift cards), SLOB is able to spread cheer to over 2000 cancer patients per year!
